Effectiveness of parents' conscious parenting training on behavioral problems of preschool children in Saman city

Abstract :
The aim of the present study was to investigate the effectiveness of parenting awareness training for parents on the externalized behavioral problems of preschool children. The research design was semi-experimental in the form of pre-test-post-test with control group. The statistical population of the study consisted of all preschool children in Saman city, from which 30 children (15 in the training group and 15 in the control group) were selected based on the inclusion criteria. The research tool included Achenbach's (1991) Projected Behavioral Problems Questionnaire. The data were analyzed and presented at two descriptive and inferential levels using SPSS-23 software. At the inferential level, multivariate covariance analysis was used. The results showed that mindfulness parenting training to parents has been effective on extrapolated behavioral problems (Eta=0.34, P≤0.01) of preschool children. Also, the examination of the dimensions of extrapolated behavioral problems also showed that this training was effective on the dimension of law breaking (Eta=0.17, P≤0.05) and aggression (Eta=0.16, P≤0.05). Based on the results, mindful parenting training can be used to reduce the extraverted behavior problems of preschool children
