Investigating the effect of the developed educational package on the academic self-efficacy of dyslexic students

Abstract :
Aim and Background: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of the developed package on the academic self-efficacy variable of dyslexic students.
Methods and Materials: The research method was a quasi-experimental design with a pre-test-post-test design with a control group and a two-month follow-up period. The statistical population of the study was 2800 second-grade elementary school students in Saman County in the academic year 1402-1403. The sample in this study included 40 second-grade elementary school students who were selected by convenience sampling and randomly assigned to the experimental and control groups. The students in the experimental group received the perceptual-cognitive educational package individually over 8 weeks in 18 50-minute sessions. The questionnaire used in this study included the Patrick, Hicks, and Ryan (1997) Academic Self-Efficacy Questionnaire and the Dyslexia Symptoms Checklist. The data from the research were analyzed using mixed variance analysis using SPSS23 statistical software.
Findings: The results showed that the perceptual-cognitive educational package for dyslexic children had an effect on the academic self-efficacy (P<0.0001; Eta<0.28; F<9.52) of dyslexic students.
Conclusions: Based on the findings, it can be concluded that the perceptual-cognitive educational package can be used as an efficient method to improve the academic self-efficacy of dyslexic students.
